What is a Psalm?

A psalm is a poetic song of praise, prayer, reflection or lament.

The Book of Psalms are among the most beautiful writings in the Bible. Psalms vary in content and purpose. They may be songs of praise calling people together to praise God, poetic prayers of thanksgiving to praise the actions of God or poems of lamenting by an individual or a nation, asking God for deliverance from suffering.

Reading the Psalms, I often find comfort, hope and inspiration.
