Tip of the Week

ENCOURAGEMENT & PRAISE

So often in todayīs society, negative outside influences tend to point out "mistakes" and "shortcomings" of others.

Negative influences can lower a child`s self-esteem and squelch their dreams and inspiration.

I believe that one of the most important parenting tools to counteract negativity is the art of encouragement.

Pointing out a childīs caring characteristics, recognizing their individual talents and praising children for their "good works," can be proactive.

Encouraging our children in faith, education and their own unique gifts, raises a childīs self-esteem, inspiring them to become people of substance.

Take time to talk to your child about his or her interests, supporting them in their endeavors and guiding them to enrich their lives.

This is not only the purpose of every parent, but of every teacher, neighbor, friend and family member.

Remember: "It takes an entire village to raise one child."

Let the light of inspiration shine from us unto our children!
